Dahlia 'Seniors Hope'

Don’t let the tongue in cheek name of Dahlia 'Seniors Hope' fool you; this is a sophisticated and stylish cultivar which deserves a place in anyone’s garden, whatever their age! A blend of dusky, antique purple and rich, velvety red gives flowers a vintage feel, which the lightly bronzed, dark green foliage sets off perfectly. Measuring 10cm across, the neat, double blooms of Dahlia 'Seniors Hope' make eye-catching features mingled throughout a border. We love seeing them amongst deep maroons and vivid purples, such as Miscanthus 'Red Cloud', Dahlia 'Honka Black', and Verbena bonariensis.

Like all dahlias, 'Seniors Hope' will thank you for a sunny spot and a generous mulch of well-rotted organic matter. As a half-hardy perennial, its tubers will need some form of protection during our UK winters. Some gardeners lift and store them in a frost-free environment, while others prefer to leave them in the ground with a thick layer of insulating mulch.
